My Makeup Regime (Part 1) - Face Based and Foundation

Ola! today I wish to share with you the first part of my makeup regime, in case you are a beginner who wanna know more about applying your own makeup, or someone who just loves to read about makeup reviews and all.

FIRST and foremost, we need to prep our face before applying any makeup on.. reason is because, to protect the skin and make sure that your makeup last long. Like a normal basic skin care regime, one need to cleanse, tone and moisturize the skin on DAILY basis. Find more about what skin care is the best for your skin type..

SECONDLY, after moisturize da skin, let's apply some face primer. Some call it face based, etc.. but the purpose is mainly to protect your skin, ensure that your foundation can be applied more evenly, not cakey throughout the day and last longer. Just a pea size, is enough for the entire face. I've tried several face primer:

good product
the best so far.. but price is slightly expensive

great texture, gel like but not sticky at all, the cheapest compared to the above but hate the packaging :(
THIRDLY, it's time to apply some foundation. I don't use concealer but if you need one, it should be applied before the foundation. Apply few dots under the eyes, and dap using your finger. Apparently the heat from your finger helps to blend the concealer evenly.

There are many types of foundation out there.. it's a matter of trial an error to find the best that works for you :) as for me, oil-free liquid foundation would be my choice. And currently I am totally in love with STAGE Picture Perfect Foundation in 07 Genie. Great product, long lasting with matte finish that works very well on me who sweat a lot!

To apply the foundation, I use brush.. some prefer to use sponge. But my advice is to NEVER use your finger. Why?? it's unhygienic and it's a waste of effort and product cos' you'll get less product on your face but instead on your finger. It's good to invest in a good brush since it lasts a long time and a good brush won't be harsh but gentle on your skin. But to begin with, you can get this stipling brush from Etude House.. it's ok for a beginner, cost less than RM30 (get it during discount period)

the brush is less dense, but it's affordable to begin with and applied the foundation well
If you want a better brush, I would recommend that you invest in this flat top synthetic kabuki brush from Sigma.. it's the best!

Follow these steps when you apply the foundation:
1. Spray a bit of water on the brush.. I use MAC fix brume+fixante. A slightly damp brush applied foundation more evenly and you will use less product on your face

2. Squeeze the product at the back of your left palm (if you use your right hand to handle the brush) as shown below:

3. Now, with a light hand tap your brush to pick some of the product and in circular motion, move the brush onto your face. I normally would start on the right cheek, working at one area at the time and move along the nose, on the chin, left cheek and finally on the forehead. Make sure that you keep the brush in circular motion along the hairline, jaw line and down to your neck to ensure even application.

LASTLY, finish of your face with a loose powder using a kabuki brush or face brush for a lasting matte finish :)

Slim Down by Standing Still?

I've read an article in oprah.com recently about you-barely-moves ways that could make you look leaner! This is how it works:

1. Flatten Your Middle by doing 'Glute Squeeze' and 'Ab Brace' i.e contract your glutes and thighs while standing upright and still. You can also tighten your abdominal muscles .. if u have seen a Thai commercial in youtube on how a lady hold her breath to keep her tummy flat until she gets into elevator, u'll know what I mean :) repeat these 10 times and hold for 10 seconds each time.

2. Lengthen Your Torso by standing up straight and shoulders back. Squeeze your inner thighs, quads and glutes. Hands by your sides, turn your palms to face out . Hold for a minute and repeat 3 times.

3. Get on power plat and vibrate your muscles! Remember those slimming machines where it makes your body shake while just standing on it? somehow that works too :P

4. Standing plank.. how? Stand with your body angled toward a wall and your feet behind your hips. Lean forward, place your forearms on the wall—about shoulder-width apart—and walk your feet back as far as you can without lifting your heels. Press the forearms into the wall for 30 to 60 seconds. Do this 3 times.

OR, better still you can wear Premium Beautiful corset everyday in which the far-infrared helps to burn 900cal. in an hour while shaping up your body :) it is like working out sub-consciously without tickling a sweat (thank you to akwatek & akwadyne material)... it's totally safe, proven and it works like magic!

From this... (btw, i wasn't pregnant ok!)

It's The Climb

As I woke up this morning, my reflection in life thus far... Alhamdulillah, am grateful for all the opportunities, the falls and experience for the past 31 years :)

I can almost see it
That dream I am dreaming
But there's a voice inside my head saying
"You'll never reach it"

Every step I'm taking
Every move I make feels
Lost without direction
My faith is shaking

But I gotta keep trying
Gotta keep my head held high...

There's always gonna be another mountain
I'm always gonna wanna make it move
Always gonna be an uphill battle
Sometimes I'm gonna have to lose

Ain't about how fast I get there
Ain't about what is waiting on the other side
It's the climb...

The struggles I'm facing
The chances I'm taking
Sometimes might knock me down
But no, I'm not breaking

I may not know it
But these are the moments that
I'm gonna remember most
Just gotta keep going

And I, I got to be strong
Just keep pushing on...

Keep on moving,
Keep climbing,
Keep the faith...

No one said life is easy
Just because something doesn't happen for you right now
Doesn't mean that it will never happen

Difficult things take longgg time
Impossible things take longggerrr time :)
So, when you dreams turn to dust, vacuum it!

*Reflect back, ponder and strategize*

Have a great weekend peeps!

I Have A Dream

Haish... i dunno what happened but my entry on this earlier was suddenly erased! How can that be?? Hence, I would have to re-post this entry again....

specially made for that special someone.. I have to rent this trademark pan  for this cake, but it's all worth it :)
What's with the cake, u may wonder... well I guess I've not been telling one of the thing that I'm passionate about - baking! Yup, back in 2007 I've started my small scale cupcakes business. I was doing very well with weekly non-stop orders. In fact, I've to schedule and limit myself not to accept more than 3 orders per week to  ensure that I could managed between office work, family and quality delivery of my cuppies :) but I've to slow down a year later when I no longer have reliable helper around ( i used to have this maid that sooo capable with baking after i taught her how to) and when office work start taking over its toll :(

Btw, I don't really remember when I started baking... sometimes when I was 13, I guess... I don't really go to any school to learn but merely from my mom :) But one thing for sure, I believe baking has always been in my blood cos' all of my aunts from dad's side were avid and professional bakers. Too bad that I don't get enough chance to really acquire all the techniques and great recipes from arwah Mak Long and arwah Mak Sabar. But still glad that at least I know how to bake arwah Mak Long's famous and all time favourites 'roti naik' and 'pau daging' Yummieee...

I remember yearssss ago when I first saw Delifrance cafe when I dream that one day I'm gonna have my very own 'Deliena Cafe' franchises all over Malaysia :) But later on I started to realize how running a cafe/restaurant would cost a bomb, very competitive market and involve high overheads! So, when I decided to test the market for cupcakes I started to fall in love with cake decorating technique.. I acquired my skill from ICCA in SS2 PJ (now they already open another outlet in Kota Damansara) and got my certification. Wilton Method cake decorating technique is the best!! and if you completed all the 3 certifications (buttercream, royal icing and sugar paste techniques) you are qualify to become a Wilton Method Instructor (WMI). From there on, I knew what exactly I want to do later in life .. I want to open a Wilton Method cake decorating school and hope to be the first to be run by Bumiputra :) Instead of opening a cafe or my own bakery, why not train more and more skilled Bumiputra cake decorators, right??

And this is my dream that I hope can be realized in few more years... running a cake decorating school need steady funding and that is one of the reason why I ventured into Premium Beautiful biz today :) am really2 grateful with this opportunity!

Wilton Roses.. it's beautiful, it's unique and it didn't used the cone wafer !  purely buttercream as centre core :)
pattern transfer.. nice huh :)
2kg choc cake... took me almost 2 hours to complete the decoration...  pure satisfaction !
VERY BIG ice cream cake...any kids would be all over this cake!

favourite colors all combined :)

How about you? What is your dream?? Dare to dream... and dream big! Share it with me, and together let's turn it into reality!
